Religious Revivalism and the Administrative Centralization Mo vement

The administrative centralization movement has greatly influenced government organization since the late nineteenth century. The main sources of the movement have generally been sought in science and the classical management tradition. This article argues that another strong source was the religious revivalism of the period in which the movement began.
